Vertical Slurry Pump VS Horizontal Slurry Pump

Slurry pump is a kind of centrifugal pump, used to transport the mixture of water and solid particles, such as slurry, ore, mud, etc. Slurry pump can be divided into vertical slurry pump and horizontal slurry pump.
This article mainly talks about the characteristics, differences, advantages and disadvantages of vertical slurry pump and horizontal slurry pump.

1. Horizontal slurry pump

Features

Horizontal slurry pump adopts mechanical seal, most of the parts can be interchangeable, increasing the service life. Simple operation, easy maintenance; in addition, horizontal slurry pump operation noise is low, vibration is small; robust, long service life, spacious flow channel, good corrosion resistance.

Applications

Used for conveying slurry or other heavy medium liquid agglomerate with slurry concentration up to 50%. It is an indispensable equipment for conveying ore, powder sand and ash in metallurgy, mining, coal and construction departments. It is mainly used for conveying concentrate slurry and discharging tailings in mineral processing plant. It can also be used for conveying medium in coal processing plant, conveying high temperature crystallized slurry in aluminum plant and conveying slurry in cement plant.

Product principle

Horizontal slurry pump is driven by motor and conveyed by v-belt pulley, and the impeller below the rigid shaft is adjusted to rotate in clockwise direction. The slurry enters the pump chamber through the inlet, and the slurry is output under the action of the impeller.

2. Vertical slurry pump

Features

Vertical slurry pump adopts auxiliary impeller to reduce impeller back pressure and prolong seal life. Meanwhile, the overflow part is made of white wear-resistant cast iron, which is wear-resistant. The overflow parts and lining of the pump are made of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant rubber for longer service life. In addition, the vertical slurry pump has the features of light weight and easy installation.

Principle

The vertical slurry pump consists of the pump body, bearing seat and a solidly attached impeller at the lower end of the vertical shaft rotating in a rolling bearing. The two ends of the bearing seat are pressed by the gland and the rolling bearing, and the lubricating oil of the bearing must be sealed to prevent leakage. The pump body is equipped with a motor bracket and motor. The impeller rotates in the pump chamber by means of a v-belt, and the slurry is compressed by the pressure of the impeller. Out. To prevent ore from penetrating the bearings, a centrifugal wheel is mounted on the main shaft.

Applications

Vertical slurry pumps are mainly used for conveying mud, mortar, slurry and similar liquids containing suspended solid particles. Such as oil drilling mud purification system, mineral processing plant conveying concentrate slurry, tailings, coal slurry, etc. It is suitable for conveying abrasive or corrosive slurry in various mining, chemical, electric power, building materials, agriculture and other industries.

3. Differences

After reading their respective introductions, summarize their differences: idling. It is suitable for conveying slurry in underground ponds, because horizontal pumps usually have no suction range and cannot be conveyed to ponds dug underground.
A horizontal slurry pump is a horizontal pump installed on the ground. It usually needs to be installed upside down so that the slurry automatically flows into the pump chamber without opening the pump. a. Structural features

Vertical submersible slurry pump is single pump shell structure; horizontal slurry pump is mostly double pump shell structure.

b. Starting mode

Vertical submerged slurry pump does not need to be started by backfilling. Impeller is located underwater, suction performance is better. Therefore, it can use higher rotation speed and work normally in the case of insufficient suction; horizontal slurry pump needs to be reversed. Installation.

c. Installation area

Vertical submersible slurry pump covers a small area and is light in weight. If the slurry pump unit uses a limited area, it is appropriate to choose the vertical submerged slurry pump; horizontal slurry pump covers a large area and needs to be installed. The area is large.

d. Maintenance

The working part of the vertical submerged slurry pump is below the liquid level, which is inconvenient to maintain; the horizontal slurry pump is located above the water surface, which is convenient to maintain.
